Dr. Genevieve Milnes      

Clinical Psychologist/Director

Dr. Genevieve Milnes is a Clinical Psychologist and the National Clinical Director of Psychology Australia Pty Ltd, and the owner/director of Psychology Australia Mt Lawley, a psychology and counselling clinic based in the Northern Suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. Genevieve employs a group of therapists with a range of expertise.


Genevieve gained a Bachelor of Psychology from Murdoch University with a focus on Children and Special Education, and a Masters Degree in Applied Psychology (Clinical) from Murdoch University with specializations in Educational Psychology, and Adult and Child Clinical Psychology. Her area of research was the treatment of adolescent depression through Cognitive Fluency, a combination of Precision Teaching and acquisition of skill to gain fluency of cognitions.


Genevieve has a Bachelor of Education from Curtin University with a major in Music and a sub-major in Anthropology, a Master of Arts (Counselling) from Pacific College of Graduate Studies (Melbourne) with a thesis component in the area of client suicide, and a Bachelor of Divinity from Melbourne College of Divinity including a three-month practical intensive in hospital chaplaincy.


Genevieve completed a PhD in the treatment of depression in adults, a treatment called 'Rewiring Cognitions & Emotions'. Her research is the standardization and manualisation of a combination cognitive-behavioural/psychodynamic psychotherapeutic modality.


It is in the clinical treatment of depression in adults, based on Precision Teaching, Cognitive Therapy, and Fluency combined with a number of discrete psychodynamic exercises. Genevieve employs the following therapy models, Rewiring Cognitions & Emotions, CBT and Psychodynamic therapies. She is experienced in couples counselling and child psychology. Genevieve currently holds monthly paediatric clinics in country towns in the Wheatbelt region through WACHS in addition to her private practice.


Genevieve worked voluntarily in Brazil with a non-denominational humanitarian NGO for eight years as a counsellor, consultant, and lecturer in the Portuguese language.
